Wildlife and Ecology Center

Over 100 injured or non releasable wild animals, feed machines for goats. The Brookhaven ecology site, park and animal preserve is a reclaimed landfill!, The Town of Brookhaven Highway Department employees have worked hard to re-vegetate the hills, and build a modern recreational and educational facility. It now has  three pools, exercise trail, fitness course, nature preserve and ecology center. The preserve/ecology center features buffalo, bobcats, and eagles! There is a picnic area, free compost, and greenhouses! I believe it is a two dollar fee for each person to go to the ecology center (that is what I have been told) the pool has a fee also, so call ahead. Anyway you look at it though, this place kinda rocks. Another thing on my calendar to do this summer!

Railroad Museum of Long Island

I have not been, nor have I ever heard of it, until I did some crazy searching. It seems it is a museum in two parts. One part is in Riverhead, and the other part is in Greenport. The Riverhead restoration site is located in a former lumber yard, opposite the Riverhead LIRR station. This is where the restoration of the museum rolling stock takes place, has a small display and a fully stocked gift shop.  The Greenport site is in a former LIRR  freight house, and has a permanent exhibit of railroad artifacts as well as regularly changing exhibits.

Admission is $7.00 for adults (13+), $4.00 for children 5-12 years old, and children under 4 are FREE. The admission charge includes a ride on our World's Fair miniature train and a guided tour of the Riverhead and Greenport sites. Admission tickets are good for both the Riverhead and Greenport sites during the same year stamped on your ticket when purchased.
Looks interesting, and is a great deal!

Long Island Puppet Theater
This place looks FANTASTIC! Since I have not been, nor do I know anyone that has been, that's all I have to say right now. The name of the place says it all. In April they had "The Little Mermaid" playing, and "Elmo and Friends", which I hope they still have, so I can go there ASAP! You know 'cause I think my son will like it.. Not because I want to go at ALL!

10 Heitz Place, Hicksville N.Y.

The Secret Garden Tea Room
Have not been, but looking at the prices $25.00 for an adult tea, and $9.99 for a child's tea. It is really a lot less than any other place I have seen recently. Definitely going to check it out. Look at the website for more details.
