1- For the Kids- Some families like to spend this holiday giving little trinkets to the kiddos as an expression of love- and hey I fully support that- especially if it is a toy, and especially if it is the limited edition Love Potion Pop Fizz Skylander. Yes, yes we know I am a dork but come, on this guy is so cute and so fun to play with! He is available for a limited time in all major stores and will quickly pop off the shelf so you better hurry!
Peaceable Kingdom has a great line up of Valentines Day cards for your kiddos to hand out as well! My favorite is the Lollipop Valentines that has lips and mustaches, come on how cute! Full disclosure; some of the kits do not have the "to" and "from" stickers in the packaging because of a factory mistake. However they are so awesome they wanted to make sure I told you and will definitely try and make it right if you happen to get one of the mistake packages! The other two kits are just as adorable and will be a fun way to share the love!
My last choice is great for both adults and kids--Walkers Shortbread's, my goodness I do love these cookies! They are a sweet non- traditional treat for the ones you love but also can be a super fun Valentines
"Walkers Shortbread (us.walkersshortbread.com) is here to help bring in the love with their delicious mini shortbread fingers and pure shortbread rounds. You can make a fun activity of creating x’s and o’s as a gift for the special person in your life (kids too) or enjoy them as a treat for the most romantic night of the year!"
2- Gifts for the women in your life! Yes we all know this is one of those days in the year that men scramble around to try and makeup for past mess ups, so I am going to try and help you out this year! I have two great gifts that will have your lady going ooo and ahh whether she is a fasionista, or a hardcore DIY(do it yourself)er.
As you may have seen in our Holiday Gift Guide for her- we mentioned the new wave in nail art- Jamberry. These are heat applied wraps that come in all sorts of amazing colors and designs. So easy to use and SO much fun to apply and wear around town! There are amazing designs, ranging from holiday lights, to cartoon turkeys, or whimsical colors--the choices are really endless. What is even better is that they last 9 days plus with proper application. You can buy your gal a monthly subscription, a starter pack or just a couple of designs you would think she would like. I have two great representatives that will just go over the moon to help you out. Ms. Melissa, who got me hooked by sending me a great set to review, and Ms. Allison, who went out of the way to make sure I got the wraps I wanted even though Jamberry was having technical difficulties during the holidays. Yep there was a rush to buy them and it almost broke down their server! Both ladies will help you get what you need for that special someone in your life. Oh and guys, they even have mommy and me sets to really pull on your lady's heart strings.
Darby Smart, a do it yourself project in a box. This includes everything you need to make a complete craft--I received a coaster set, a wood burning kit and a glass etching kit in my subscription boxes, which is a surprise every month- or you can order the craft of your choice. How you buy is up to you, but if you have a crafty DIY fabulous woman in your life this is what you should be giving her!
4- Gift Guide for Men: I have three gift ideas for the man of your life. If your guy is like mine he is really hard to shop for, but if I was to get him one of these three gifts, he would go to the moon. Actually I have given them to him and he has loved them- so they are tested and approved.
Dollar Shave Club. Yep this is a monthly subscriptions of razor blades that really are just a dollar. They have other ones that are more expensive (like maybe $5 dollars etc) but the dollar ones are a great way to start. The blades are wonderful and give your man that nice clean shave that you love without the razor burn that he hates! This gift is a win-win. Oh side note- the commercials are HILARIOUS.
My last gift is something you make yourself and if your a vegetarian you should just stop right now. Chocolate covered bacon. Yep you heard me. This stuff is better than any candy you will find at the store. All you do is fry your bacon till they are crisp but not burnt, let them cool, melt chocolate in a double boiler, or just boil water in a large pot and place a smaller pot on top (same difference). You can use chocolate melts, or chocolate chips (whatever you want), place them in the double boiler and add just a drop of vegetable oil (this is key, it will give the chocolate a nice smooth finish) Then cover your bacon completely. Put on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and put in the fridge for the chocolate to settle. Then get ready for you to get the biggest hug of your life! This is a winner and costs just about $11 bucks and a half of an hour of your time.
4-Snuggling up at home. As you know we here at TMG are in love, love, love with PBS programming, so I doubt you will be surprised that we have three fun Valentines Day shows that will be filled with the spirit of love coming up soon. Whether you use this as a "pre-game" as you make your home-made valentines, or whip up some cookies, or tape them for the big day itself, these shows will give your child a way to visualize what Valentines Day is all about- and help them get excited to show some love!
This year, celebrate Valentine’s Day in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe! Snuggle up with your young valentines and tune in to a very special Valentine’s Day episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, premiering Monday, February 9, on PBS KIDS (check local listings) and re-airing all week long. The heartwarming new episode of the top-rated series for preschoolers from The Fred Rogers Company helps reinforce Fred Rogers’ enduring messages of love and acceptance for all little tigers.
The half-hour Valentines Day show features two endearing stories that encourage children to find their own unique ways to say “I love you."
It’s Love Day
It’s Love Day in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe so Daniel and all of his friends come up with their own special ways to show their love and care for one another. The kids dance, sing and tell jokes to say “I love you.”
Daniel’s Love Day Surprise
Grandpere is coming to visit on Love Day. How can Daniel find a way to show how much he loves his grandfather? With a treasure hunt, that’s how! Daniel hides little hearts all over the house for Grandpere to find…that is, unless little Margaret finds them all first!
And don’t forget to tune-in to Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood
each day on PBS KIDS (check local listings) and:

In “Happy Valentine’s Day, George,” Curious George wants to make his friends the best Valentine’s Day card ever, but even with four paws, it takes a long time to create homemade cards for everyone. Using sponge shapes, red paint, and a waffle iron, George creates the first ever monkey Valentine’s printing press!
This season continues to focus on teaching preschoolers about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts, as well as use of the five senses (smell, taste, hearing, touch, and sight). The curious monkey’s adventures go in “Oh Deer.” When a hungry deer keeps nibbling on the flowers in George and Allie’s garden, George uses all of his five senses to keep the deer out. A scarecrow, loud noises, sticky tape, and stinky rotten eggs don’t work, leaving George with one last sense: taste! Will George’s recipe keep the deer away or make them hungry for more?
Curious George airs weekdays on PBS KIDS (check local listings). For more monkey fun, parents can access a variety of fun and educational resources, including games on the five senses like “Roller Monkey” and “Cows Don’t Quack!” on the Curious George website.
